The Samurai Parade !

The Matsumoto Castle and Citizen Festival is held every year in November. The main event is the Samurai Warrior Parade. More than 200 people gather at Matsumoto Castle donning costumes of Samurai warriors, princesses and Ninjas for a procession through downtown Matsumoto!
Many more events are organized during this special day for residents and visitors alike. You’ll find many Japanese cultural displays, such as a big tea ceremony, a Japanese Taiko Drums performance, Japanese archery competition, Kendo and Naginata traditional martial arts competitions and so much more!
There are so many things to experience all over town during the Matsumoto Castle and Citizen Festival. Join in the festivities yourself and become a real citizen-for-a-day of Matsumoto city!
