Shiojiri Wine Tasting Event
Nestled between the Central Alps and Yatsugatake mountain ranges sits Shiojiri, one of the oldest wine regions in Japan. This quaint little city is home to dozens of wine makers, and for three days their wines will be on full display. From May 3rd to May 5th 2026, Shiojiri city will held a wine tasting event where you can taste more than 15 different local wines for just 300 yen per glass!
Wine Tasting Event in Shiojiri – Information

- Time: 13:00 – 17:00
- Location: Shiojiri City – Tourist Information Center (Shiojiri Station East Exit)
Disposable plastic glasses will be sold separately for 100 yen each, or you are welcome to bring your own glass or cup as well. Wine will be poured in 70ml increments.
Getting there – Shiojiri Station
The event is conveniently located 15 minutes from Matsumoto by train at the East Exit of Shiojiri Station. Shiojiri Station has service from the Chuo Line, the Shinano Line, the Shinonoi Line, and the Azusa Limited Express.

What to visit nearby?
Narai-juku Post Town is known as the highest of the eleven post towns along the Kisoji stretch of the Nakasendo. In 1978, Narai Post Town was designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Historic Buildings. This beautifully-preserved slice of Edo Era Japan, where people still live and work. It is definitely a must-do destination when visiting Shiojiri and Matsumoto.
