Hi, my name is Kevin, and I have a Master’s Degree in Forensic Science in a box in a closet somewhere.
In high school I spent a month in Germany on an exchange program. I haven’t been able to sit still since. In the last twenty years I’ve lived, worked and traveled all over Japan, taking time along the way to hike and bike further abroad in Asia, Europe, South America, Australia and Africa.
Of all the places I’ve been in Japan, from the farthest reaches of Hokkaido to the islands south of Kyushu, nowhere have I felt more at home than in Matsumoto. I could say it’s the mountains, or the excellence of the four seasons, or the lively small-town vibe. I suppose it’s all three. But there is something else about this place that appeals to me – a feeling I can’t explain.
