Matsumoto Castle Week and Citizens Festival

Matsumoto Castle Week runs from November 3rd-10th 2025. The Citizens festival will be held during this week, on November 3rd  2025. There will be many events held in the downtown core and castle grounds. Admission is free. Matsumoto Castle Week Held every year in November, Matsumoto Castle Week celebrates the iconic castle that sits in the heart of Matsumoto City. Matsumoto Castle Entry Fee Update: What You Need to Know

The city of Matsumoto in Nagano Prefecture plans to raise the adult admission price for Matsumoto Castle to ¥1,200 for a digital ticket and ¥1,300 for a physical ticket starting April 1, 2025. Revenue from the Matsumoto Castle Entry Fee tickets will be spent on preparing for natural disasters and other work on the castle, according to the municipal government. Matsumoto’s museums closure notification: Museum of Art & Kaichi School

Due to large-scale renovations, the Matsumoto City Museum of Art, the Former Kaichi School and the Matsumoto City Museum will begin their temporary closures from April 2021. Due to the importance of this work, these museums will remain closed for the near future. Please see below for further information regarding Matsumoto’s museums closure notification.
